Small Group Support:
Writing Circles

Once you have purchased your copy of Mending Abortion Trauma with Presence, you may decide to gather a small group with an intention of working through the exercises together. Marsha’s invitation for the writing exercises is to find at least one trusted person to share your responses. Sharing is an important part of mending, changing the pattern of silence and not speaking one’s experience.

At some point in your group journey, your members may decide to invite Marsha (author of the workbook) and her colleague, Marie Maccagno, to facilitate a writing process for your members. We offer a variety of options, from a half-day session to a series of bi-weekly meetings that take place over five months. Your group determines the intention and final structure for what we offer in a co-created process. The costs are determined according to each group’s needs.

Much of the writing in Mending Abortion Trauma with Presence emerged in writing circles hosted by Marie Maccagno. She is skilled at creating safety and trust in small group settings. If you are curious, check out www.mariemaccagno.com to learn more about Marie.

Both Marsha and Marie are deeply committed to holding space for whatever emerges from your inner exploration. Small group circles are a way of building the community we envision, one writing prompt at a time, one piece that is read aloud at a time, one shared experience at a time.

This guidebook reflects generosity towards all women who have endured the pain of abortion and want to mend some of the lingering wounds of that trauma.  By venturing through the reflections, contemplations and shared stories, comes an opportunity to mature due to the tough lessons of life.

Marsha deepens the conversation about abortion with a heart-oriented book for anyone who has  a stake in this controversial yet very personal subject.  She weaves a journey through the steps that women must take from conception to the abortion procedure.  This is not political but rather humanely clarifies the deeper call of becoming Pro- Women.
